ideas for excercising the hand
i was reminded of what i did when i had no strength to hold on to a ball to squeeze it. i put the ball in a sock then put the sock over my hand. it made my hand independent of the good hand. and it also made it easier to excercise my fingers. not only a ball but a one pound weight, or anything small you cant hold on to yet. this might be good idea for small kids to play like a puppet. make afun game out of it.

Hi Jmar,
I am that you are using a ball to squeeze
It does take time to build grasp from nothing, I started this way when I was little
Overtime as you build strength you will be able to carry things and you will be able to assist your good arm. I am unable to reach very much but I take my good arm and grab the bad arm and reach and grasp with the bad arm with the assist of the good one to reach. One thing is for sure any limitation your left with that you cant find treatment for( Now) you will find ways to be creative ( Like a Sock ) and strengthen the limitation your left with by being creative Grasp help me drive a motorcycle and hold onto a semi steering wheel with limited reach so if you can gain grasp you gain alot in time.
Best trys

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.

I have balls of several levels of soft/hard color matching my outfits I wear. It is fun to shop new ones as O loose or leave them places
