- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: May 24, 2008 an 88 year old lady did not see me and pulled out while I was riding my 06 HD Street Glide. The accident resulted in 9 broken bones and brain hemorrhaging. The accident's most serious results was two avulsions confirmed in my C6 & C7 vertebrae. In Oct of 08 Dr. Li of Wake Forest University performed nerve transfer lasting around 8 hours in surgery. I have limited use now of my left arm. It took until July of 09 before it moved at all, and now is moving limited. I experience burning pain in my left hand, staying busy helps keep the mind off of burning. I visited the Mayo Clinic May, 2010 and consulted with their brachial plexus team. May 1, 2012, I underwent a muscle transfer at Wake Forest University. This surgery was deemed a success and I have more movement in my arm.

Re: Muscle Transfer
Bull,
I talked to Dr. Li Wednesday. He mentioned you and that you were working on the insurance end of things. I sure hope you can go back and see him. My muscle transfer is now complete and the road to rehab begins next Thursday. I am already doing good with it though.
Tom,
Keep us posted on when you are close to Raleigh. I'd love to meet both you and Bull. Not many people with our injuries. I have one more person ask me if I plan to buy another motorcycle or ride again I think I am going to scream. LOL
Keep on keeping on guys!
Jeff

On the smilie side ,Bull-Jeff When I went to a Chicago picnic it amazing you smile more I am not alone look ???
Jeff , Ya if you want to ride again , I will see how you can adapt it for you to a litter least weight bike like a sportier?? Reach as high as you can, and- Right On- Soooo 60s
I wonder is it less expense from OrD to Charlotte or Raleigh?? or a regional airline near by ??
Look forwards to a meet up-!!

Re: Muscle Transfer
hi guys ,have posted on site only a few times but noticed the muscle transfer. my 3 1/2 yr old will be having muscle transfer on for his OLBP this summer not looking forward to this. not sure how to explain what or when this will be going on to a 3 yr old. he will be in the 90 degree cast like someone else described. turn down by 2 lawyer with no explaination of why just form letters feel like they just wasted time i dont know how long we have to file for him. the fact that he has to have this surgery should prove we have a case i dont understand how drs cannot admit to their mistakes. live in NC.

Re: Muscle Transfer
Iam thinking I hate the 90% lift in a cast??? How about down to the side, Doc??? I know that may still be the cave man with erbs as a baby in the 50s. I really dont know what a muscle transfer is??? But I know when I was little 90% hurT They have do this Still??? If so when your baby fuss-is , My mom in the 50s gave me a stuff animal help, me ??? to support of the splint on my shoulder when I was trying to sleep
Hope this help, 90% splint was no help at birth in the 50s with scapula and elbow brace and ERBS I am so happy that your child will get more mobility from the surgery and will be-able to improve his ability to adapt That is AWSOME!!!!
I only hope this helps,
Tom
