Questions about TENS
Hi, I am new to the UBPN. My son has OBPI, 29 years. His ‘burners & stingers’ have become unbearable in the last few years, but he prefers not to use meds. For 2 months we have done deep tissue massage, stretching, & isometric contractions and this has helped the passive range of motion and a little with the pain. We would like to use TENS to help with pain, and maybe to help rebuild and strengthen muscle. Any ideas?

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: 28 years old with a right obstetrical brachial plexus injury. 5 surgeries to date with pretty decent results. Last surgery resolved years of pain in my right arm however, I am beginning my journey with overuse in my left arm

Re: Questions about TENS
I have never used a TENS for my personal pain but have recommended them to patients...I am an occupational therapist. I used to use my ESTIM machine for pain on occasion but I think the TENS have a much better affect for pain while ESTIM is better for gaining muscle strength.
Talk to a local therapist for more info...Also it would be a great idea to seek an appt with a bpi specialist. On the resource page, there is a great list of providers listed by state. They will have the best options to resolve pain
Hope that helps,
Amy 24 years old ROBPI from MN
