Shoulder Fusion Surgery

Post by annette71 »

Hi, My name is Annette and I am writing from Australia. I am currently typing to you from a hopstial bed where in 6 days time I will undergo a left shoulder fusion. Over the past 15 years I have had mutliple dislocations and had them fixed surgically and well and hundreds of shoulder reductions, but nothing has worked long term.
The reason I am in hospital now i becasue the shoulder is permanently dislocated and they can't get it reduced again... I have 3 children 19, 16 and 12. the 19 year old has moved out of home and is about to have her own baby but the two younger children live with my husband and myself. My youngest (12 YEAR OLD) has Aspergers and ADHD and can be a real handful. I also live on a small hobby farm and I really miss my animals too.

I am 100 percent frightened of post of pain and recovery times. I know with my last shoulder operation I had a capsular shift done with a hamstring graft and that was really painful. I know in the end, I can't live like i am now and it will be for he best , so am kind of looking forward to it.

I would love to hear from other people who have had a similar experience .

Kind Regards.
