Anyboby try or know these pain meds?

Post by barryz28 »

Hello.
I am new here but have been living with this injury for 23 years.
Sometimes I need something to get me through the night when there is very little sleep due to pain levels rising.
My doctor has been suggesting the following:
Tramadol tablets (or Tramacet)
Naproxen tablets (or Naprosyn)
Has anyone had success with either?
I think she said one is medical strength Advil.
I usually just take Advil to get the cutting edge of pain but it hasn't been working the last little while.
Thanks, Barry.

Hi Barry,

I use tramadol in the way your doctor describes - to take the edge off pain when it's preventing me from sleep. I think it's pretty effective, and it only lasts about 4 hours, so there aren't any effects the next morning. Good luck,

Tramadol seems to be the winner, I will let my Dr know I chose those ones.
Thanks all.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: 48 yr male with BPI from auto accident on 8/07/11. Suspected C5-T1 avulsion from early EMG but recently have flexed bicep. Had many serious and life-threatening injuries to deal with first, but am now doing much better. Just had nerve transfer surgery at Mayo by Dr. Skinner to reinnervate deltoid and tricep. Once this is working, we will move on to nerve/muscle transfer for dealing with my hand.

What I've found works best for me is Xanax. I take 1mg at bedtime and now get thru most nights quite well. I think it's usually used for anxiety/panic. I also take Lyrica and amatriptoline. I'm not familiar with Tramadol.

Good luck.
