Hey guys, sorry for the late update. Its been tiring. it went well. the nerves where not as damaged as expected. the cleared out scar tissue and used a cadaver nerve to patch up the area they cleared. They only had one inconsistency when they tested the nerve the muscle didnt fire. they are going to give it 4 month to see if it will show any improvement because the nerves looked real good to them. they have real high hopes for recovery for me. thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. on the plus side i have sensation in places i didnt have before. i hope it keeps building. One thing is for sure, if i didnt have the strength of my wife im not sure i would have any at all, i love you babe.

Thanks armstrong,
its still weird to see a best case scenario but things dont work. As they said time will tell i suppose. Im optimistic. I really dont want to get a rib nerve transfer.

i have a whopping one-pound weight restriction. WOW! i can lift a can of soft drink! but my movement is better than my strength. i am working on both with my OT.

I'm glad to know that you all are seeing some recovery from your surgeries,it's very frustrating to go through all the changes that happen with this injury and go through surgery and nothing changes.I had my surgery in march and so far nothing but it's always good to hear from those who are getting some function back, good luck and may you continue to improve.

i thought i was going to be using my hand right after surgery, but my muscles were so streaked with fatty tissue, it made it impossible to do what the dr wanted to do. she had to change the approach she used. i woke up in a cast. after 2 days i was put in a splint for 5 weeks that forbade me to even wiggle my fingers. now that i am out of that, my hand is a lot better than it was before the surgery. armstrong and geomand, you are both fairly newly injured. not much past the time i was injured so we will get better together. it takes a LOT of time for that to happen. although i have some movement, my strength is very poor.
i am just so angry with the dr that did this to me. %#@!@$#@*&(*&@!$#. i had to wait 14 months for this surgery. he kept telling me i did not need an EMG, or nerve testing, or anything else. he kept telling me it was getting better, when in fact, three of my fingers were clawing and becomiing useless. this is a very severe injury and should have been treated immediately. my insurance sent me to another dr after 10 months. that is why my muscles were in such bad shape. they were very deteriorated from no nerve activity. if this surgery was done last year, i probably would have most of my function back by now.
