Re: stellate ganglion block
FROM WHAT I'VE HEARD IT'S A SHOT YOU GET IN THE NECK AND IT'S SUPPOSED TO HELP REDUCE PAIN AND INCREASE MOVEMENT IN THE ARM,I PERSONALLY HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING BAD REGARDING THE PROCEDURE BUT I'M SURE YOU CAN GET SOME MORE INFO OFF THE NET IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE SO ALREADY...TAKE A DEEP BREATH,TRY TO RELAX BEFORE YOU GO IN,THINK POSITIVE THOUGHTS AND GOOD LUCK!

That is true direction, anytime you can do match UP to limitation it helps The best way to defeat fear is by information and direction that can work for you CORAGE WIll defeat FEAR every time, In time you will find things you can adapt to in life. All things you try may not work! But there is a lot to be said about a fighting Sprit in life, You never stop trying it emotional merry-go-round for sure. A SHOT TO THE NECK TAKES COURAGE FOR SURE!!

Re: stellate ganglion block
I had one about a year or two after injury, trying to knock out all possibilities for nerve pain. Idea was, that I may have a neuroma on one of mt existing nerves, C8 or T1 (C5, C6, & C7 avulsed). The Nerve block would have rendered the existing nerves "numb" more or less, and if I still had pain, it would be from the avulsed nerves (or the area where the nerves were torn from the spinal cord), and there was nothing they could so for that except for a DREZ procedure, or attempt a spinal cord stimulator (neither of which work too well and DREZ carries many risks.
It wasn't too bad of a procedure. I had temporary Horners Syndrom afterward. Right eye and face were droopy for a day or so. The pain remained the same, but it was nice knowing that I tried and that it was ruled out.
Good luck. It's nothing worse than anything else we've been through. For me it was extremely interesting. Watching the needle injection make its way to my spinal cord through the fluoroscope was wild.
Enjoy,
Chris

Re: stellate ganglion block
thank you christopher. i had the block done today and it did help my pinkie finger quite a bit. it loosened up some of the tightness and pain when i move it. but not my arm. i am scheduled for another one next week. the procedure itself, like you said was not too bad. i hope the next one does some good for my arm or if it helps my fingers again, that would be good, too. i am also being sceduled for a PT doctor? whatever that is. but anyway, he is going to make a splint to help my fingers from clawing at night when i sleep.
i am sooo angry at the doc who did this to me. when i woke up from surgery, he told me i would have all the feeling and function back in my arm and hand within a week!!! maybe a month at the most. it has been almost a year and i am losing my function more and more due to muscle loss. i just want to &^%&%#@!(&^%^^##%&.
you can fill in the blank with whatever you think i want to do or say.

Re: stellate ganglion block
WOW, I really am impress what you guys go threw and treatment you get these days. You should ask the doctor about exercises that will help strengthen un used muscles. You need to stay on this with a therapist to,BIG TIME. Part of anger comes from doctors not really listening to your needs and the true outcome of there actions,Generic Treatment get me mad to. Build on what you can and learn by doing as much as you can with limitation that you are left with. I guess wasting away does happen if you get injured later in life, I guess when I was injured at birth I most of had baby muscles that wasted away? But other muscles did get bigger in my erbs side over time. I think this happen because of trying to adapt every day things to, with very limited range on my erbs side in time? I wonder if my un used muscles wasted away to? But I would not even of know that happen? who knows? Some doctor like told my mom I was born with POLIO not that my injuries were ERBS, I found that out when I saw my birth records? Some doctor will treat your needs other doing by generic treatment that not right,To me. Some doctors treat your need and some guess at a point. Please turn your anger in to questions to ask the doctor so you understand the available choices you might have,You choose which one base on your need and limitations, not a generic one.

Re: stellate ganglion block
well, i had my second ganglion block done today. it seems to have helped my elbow a little this time. which is wonderful that i can now touch my side with my elbow without jumping out of my skin. it still hurts to touch it but not as bad as it was. the doc who did this block said it should have been done when the injury first occured because it would have helped a lot more when an injury was newer. gggrrrrrr this stupid doctor did this to me refused to do anything about it for almost a year. i am so glad i have a new doctor

I am so for you,Like its your Fault you did not have this treatment Before it is , So doc , like if it was me seeing him. With my life time without treatment what would he say to me?? Like there is nothing for me in the world for treatment in these times. Fact is there is. When you hear the time for treatment has past dont believe it Its not true in my world but that is me being positive again Nothing in life is in stone only word that hurt to much some times
