Big Sister Trying to Help Out...

Post by bmarco44 »

My little brother was in a horrible automobile accident back in October of 2010. Although we are able to sympathize with all he is going through, in now way are we able to empathize with him. It is astonishing to read what every one of you go through on a daily basis, and inspiring to know how hard you push recover. I send my best wishes and prayers out to each of you and your families... one day at a time has been our motto!

His pain is severe and now that appointments and such have slowed, his depression is settling in a bit more each day.

There is a possibility he may obtain an evaluation at the Mayo Clinic in March, which from what I read through these posts, is top notch. He has/had no insurance and, from what I gather, the Mayo Clinic eval is approximately 5K.

Is anyone able to assist with estimating what the costs would be after such evaluation if there were some type of nerve transplant, shoulder reconstruction, muscle graft, etc. they could do?

Any information would be sincerely appreciated.

THE MAYO CLINIC HAS A PROGRAM CALLED CHARITY CARE FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE INSURANCE OR FACE OTHER FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS....YOU HAVE TO ASK ABOUT IT BECAUSE THEY DON'T MAKE THE INFO READILY AVAILABLE...THEY MAIL YOU THE FORMS OR YOU HAVE TO PRINT THEM OUT AND MAIL THEM BACK WITH ALL THE PROPER INFO.IT TAKES ABOUT THREE TO FOUR WEEKS FOR THEM TO MAKE A DECISION,SO YOU MAY WANT TO LOOK INTO IT.GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ESPECIALLY YOUR BROTHER,I HAD MY INJURY ON SEPT. 19 2010 AND IT IS AN EVERYDAY STRUGGLE, THE SUPPORT OF FRIENDS AND FAMILY IS IMPORTANT BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THAT HE DOESN'T GIVE UP ON HIMSELF AND I THINK ONE DAY AT A TIME IS A GOOD WAY TO GO.AGAIN GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND GOOD LUCK.
