Video at 3 years old

Post by KPC's mom »

Hi,

I haven't been on here in quite a while. I used to post under Kaiden'smom, but forgot the password and just re-registered.

Here's a video of my son now at 3 years. We're about to do botox on his pecs & then e-stim on his back for 3 months in therapy.
He's doing really great & has come so far from those first 6 months when there was very little movement. He had the ACR surgery with Dr Kozin at 11 months old.

Just thought I'd share and show the newer moms there is hope.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Kaiden looks a lot like my almost 7-year-old Joshua (ACR at 13 months old). Can you tell me what the botox for his pecs is meant to do? Joshua also has only about 100 degrees abduction.

Thanks jmar, yes my son loves the camera.

The botox is to weaken the pec which is to tight. While it is weakened, they will do e-stim on his back muscles by his scapula to strength them to and help pull his shoulder back. Not sure what the muscle is called, it's right next to the scapula and is weak. They are hoping to help bring his shoulder back and I think to help him get more over head range. He will go weekly to the OT for E-stim for the 3 months while the pec is weak from the botox.

The other option recomended by Dr Nath was mod quad & a triangle tilt. We couldn't afford to pay for those surgeries & didn't really feel comfortable with doing 2 more surgeries at this point when he's doing as well as he is. The botox was recomended by Dr Kozin & so we are hoping that it will help.
