No money from settlement or trial for child?

Has anyone come across a situation where there is a settlement from mediation or there are trial winnings and the child is not permitted to receive any assistance from that amount for their injuries until they are 18 years old?

I have not heard of that. I know the way my childs is set up is under a special needs trust. There is a board of people that basically decide what the money can be used for. If there is something I think she needs then I have to request it from them and either they approve it or not. I have set up when she turns 25 she will receive a monthly income but not until then, I wanted her to go to college and do something with herself not think she can depend on this money for her whole life because with the medical bills it will run out.

In particular what state it is, if it was settlement or verdict, if there was a structured settlement, is there a trust. With this information I may be able to explain it better.
