moderating the baords

Post by marymom »

if you think you want to moderate your board-our board- and other boards do it with volunteers by the way-...as important in my opinion -as moderating comments about a doctor would be creating a set of guidelines that even high profile members would be asked to follow. including demeaning and attacking comments - and if you get ALOT of complaints about someone...then that someone should be asked to re-evaluate their comments.
Many boards have that policy, then 1-3x, a warning, then a suspention, depending on the nature of the beast, suspentions from the board, followed by possible blocking as was done in a case here that was mentioned earlier.
That helps to balance the board,
Without external controls similar to that...
the baord itself takes on an internal balance it seems, when things get really out of whack you have posters that come on from the opposite direction, balancing it out, but this can allow for a pretty rough ride that many members may not wish to "surf"-

Thanks, Mary, these are good suggestions and we will take a look at them. We did follow that process of warning, then suspension and then blocking in the case of Bobbie.

Perhaps we should consider actually putting these steps into our policy.

Obviously we are taking a fresh look at all this again given all the comments and suggestions that have been discussed.
