Procedure to "Un-Bend" Arm?

Post by ericadorsey »

I've had a RBPI since birth (I am 33). My arm is basically at a 90 degree angle and have always bumped it into things! It really sticks out and I am very self-conscious about it. Has anyone ever heard of a procedure to "un-bend" the arm so that it lays straight down? Thank you...

Mine lies the same way. and it can get to be quite annoying because even when you try to avoid hitting it, it still happens. Grant it I have TBPI so I haven't had it that way so long. I don't know about you but I have no motion in it, so if the other hand it preoccupied, sometimes just have to deal with it hanging like that. (otherwise i can hold it with my arms crossed)

I would be interested in hearing if there are procedures for this as well.
I have been brainstorming an idea for a splint so that it would hang straight, though mine is also badly internally rotated... so I don't think it would fix that, but hoping it may help hold it straight to avoid hitting it on things. Going to pass the idea to my doctor and occupational therapist in a few weeks when I go back. If successful, I will let you know.
