Every once in a while I stay up late looking at birth videos on Youtube. Yeah... probably to torture myself. Anyway, here is one that actually has shoulder dystocia and uses the McRobert maneuver to deliver.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: My son was born At Parrish Medical Center in Titusville,Fla.After becoming stuck in the birth canal A doctor(any doctor)was paged 911.Believe it or not There was NO Obgyn on staff to preform a delivery,so a midwife and one other nurse had to deliver my son.He suffered 2 torn nerves and came out lifeless...
We see Dr.Grossman In Miami along with Dr.Price.He has had a nerve transfer in 2010,A round of botox and a recasting in 2011 and now we will having another round of botox in which we pray no cast will be needed.He is a smart handsome little boy who has come so far and everyday I feel he's improving! - Location: Port Saint John,Florida

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Wow I guess someone does not want a good delivery on Youtube. Why would this be taken down when it give good example of SD delivery?
The only SD delivery tape I watched was one where the baby was injured. It was such an emotional experience for me. I guess I just never realized how hard the delivery was on me, even though I know how bad my injury is. I some how was disconnected from the actual event. I cried so hard when I saw it and felt so very sad for my Mom that she had to go through this and discover that I was injured after release from the hospital. They managed to hide it from her the two weeks we were in after birth. They claimed I was scratching my face! I still can't do that.

Yes, just a midwife. It was a home water birth (yes, dystocia can happen even if you aren't resting on your tailbone). I wish I'd had a midwife who was more pro-active in getting me onto all fours or squatting or SOMETHING other than just pulling and twisting on my baby to dislodge him. I used to blame myself because it was a home birth, but from everything I've read, it had a high likelihood of being even worse if I'd been in a hospital.Tuckersmommy wrote:Hi...
