Amtryke

Post by anotherbpimom... »

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has a gifted amtryke they're done using and wants to pass it on to another family? We could really use one, but can't financially swing it.

Thanks.

we were gifted one when maia was little -- and she couldn't use it - so we gifted it to her therapy group
then as she got older and got stronger she was able to use it, and she used it there as part of her therapy
and shortly after she got too big to use it

when you use it, you are asking the arms to be able to move the whole body weight

if the child compensates while doing this, it's just exercising the wrong muscles and could be bad - could be creating more imbalance

please start using it with your child's therapist to see if it's a good tool or not a good tool for your child

every child is different

Hi and thanks for your response. She did use this with an O.T. and loved it. The O.T. is recommending it. I believe she uses her arms along with the pedals. I think it's primarily, if not all propelled, by her legs.
