Wanted to Share

Post by Joann B. »

Hi Everyone!

It's been awhile since I've been around....but I wanted to share something. I remember the days of worry about my child fitting in etc. and I wanted to pass along the following video....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgH5PHU6k (If the link doesn't work...you can go to www.youtube.com and search for Sing Me Insomnia...the song is called "Party Up In Here".)

The band is Sing Me Insomnia...I am confident they will be the next big thing! My son Wes (18) has a RBPI from birth. He's had three surgeries on his arm. I remember when he first told me he wanted to play guitar....I cried myself to sleep...I was just so worried that he would get "hurt" in the process...but ...he found a way to make it work for him. He taught himself to play guitar, bass and drums. He is constantly amazing me! I am so proud of all of our kids that are pushing obstacles out of the way and finding ways to make it work....what a tribute to us all!

You can also find them on http://www.myspace.com/SingMeInsomnia

PS - My goofball is the one in the pink tracksuit! Makes a Mama proud!

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.

Oohmygosh -- he's going places - that's for sure. I loved that song Kiss For a Tip - woweee.... he's going to hit the charts one of these days. Love the pink..... he's got such energy about him.

Congratulations!!

Maia is doing her 9th show this weekend -- they are doing 60's songs .... can't wait. She's playing drums, keyboards, harmonica and singing lead in 2. Look for it on youtube.com/franlitz - I'm sure I'll have it up by Monday.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI, had surgery when I was 9- they moved muscles and tendons from one side of my arm to the other side. I can lift my arm to about my eye level, can't straigten it all the way and can't completely supinate my wrist.
