I thought a better way to explain my

Try warring a light jacket that has pockets it can support the shoulder more from swing. There is another way to? take your good arm and hold the other arm when running to support the shoulder . I have done this all my life with erbs it always help the shoulder issue for sure ;) .If I can offer any thing hear is stating things that help me in my life time with erbs . I know to, that any way you can stretch your limitation is a great thing. so it really is something big your doing , the bigger
benefit is your :D .

Traci,
I missed this when you posted way back when...Sorry, school is running my life!
I am so proud of you! Maybe this is what I need to get in shape not only for my wedding but for the rest of my life. Does anyone else have trouble breathing when running? Its more than just being out of shape, it doesnt matter how much I practice, I still cant breathe at all when I run. If I try to push through it, I will black out...Any tips to make this stop so I can run?

A thought about running, I have seen TBPI wear a sling to run...its not "normal" but it makes it so you can pay less attention to your arm and concentrate more on running.

Again, way to go, I am proud of you for running that 5 k!
Hugs,
Amy

They would refer you to a respirologist/pulmonologist to do further testing. Ask your GP about it, or if your school has a GP you can get a referral to.

(I work in resp now, so see/hear the testing every day, LOL). I've done the tests too.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Amy
I run out of breath and always have because I have a c4 injury and was told I have a spastic diaphragm. When we were at Camp in 2005 Nancy and I would be walking up the hills and seemed to run out of breath about the same time. It's not uncommon for bpi injured to have their diaphragm injured and it to go undiagnosed, especially if your older. Years ago they did not check to see if it was injured. I always had bronchitis or pneumonia when I was a child so I was florascoped quite a bit. I'm not sure but I think an xray will show it. I have had a million breathing tests and some say is asthma and others say it's related to my diaphragm.
