Update on Brianna -- Has this happened to anyone?
I know that I have been out of the loop again. Too much on our plates I guess, not enough time to sit and relax. Anyway, has this happened to anyone else? Brianna, 7, has Erb's & Klumpke's. Never had any regeneration through the bicep. Did everything with her shoulder and back muscles. Never had any surgeries. Brought her to a new therapist and as she's testing, Brianna bends her arm ever so slightly! The therapist thought she felt a weak bicep muscle and we are working with it and now when she does the e-stim machine, she is getting great reaction. She is also all of a sudden getting great readings in her wrist. I never thought she would ever get any regeneration after all these years. Is this unusual? I'm beside myself with joy. Always, thanks for listening through the thick and thin! Karen

Congrats on the new movements!!!!! My son is turning two so I don't really have much advise to offer. Maybe it's just a miracle.

Great News! You all must be so excited! I believe that there is always hope. My daughter who is 10, never had any surgery, started doing things this summer that she was never able to do before like doing a backdive in to a pool and dancing using her arms more. It's hard to explain exactly but there is new movement and range happening. I think what has helped her is all of the swimming she does now and the extra activities she is trying like basketball and piano which are working muscles that she wasn't using as much before. It had been/seemed like about four years with no real big differences before that. I hope your daughter continues to gain movement,

That is great!!! I think it is true that we're so busy and sometimes get so bogged down that it's hard to look for the little movements....It's a good sign that your therapist was able to notice...Now maybe the e-stim will urge the movements on???? Best of luck to her!!!

Thank you for your kind words and good thoughts! As always, we keep all the children in our thoughts and prayers. I'd like to think that miracles do happen ... a little sign from up above keeps us going!

Karen, keep the e-stim as much as you can...and also keep exercising her arm as much as you possibly can. It seems that the nerves are still regenerating...don't loose energy now..keep going strong! My daughter also seemed to be a 'very severe' case and has slowly improved in areas we never thought (slight finger movements, etc.)...keep working and don't give up.
