SOCIAL SECURITY

Post by nay »

Can anyone tell me if they were given a hard time by Social Security? They told me to get a job walking and using my right hand.

Hi...
No matter where you live in the World it seems there is so much ignorance where disabled or people with challenges are concerned.
From my own experiences 23 yrs. ago in Canada. I was in a wheelchair. Only had the right arm slightly functioning. Brain injured, the whole 9 yards. Was facing an instutional life for the rest of my days. A family member filed my papers while I was in a parapelegic hospital. The Gov. sent back a letter stating I did not qualify for any diability benefits from the Province at that time, as I was simply and it was underlined too (I WAS NOT DISABLED ENOUGH) Now can you imagine?
My family, doctors were all mortified. They wheeled me to an old apple computer, where they assisted me in writing a letter on my own behalf, with facts, letters, medical records and had signed affidavits from friends on an appeal.
I eventually got an apology letter, as I demanded it. I recieved my funds.. But not without a fight..

I wish you luck on this journey..stick with it..

With Praise,
Mardelle

I know you are looking for help in the SS area and that has been a topic here before. Here is the link I found but if you research it here you find several of them. Good luck.

The rules for SS have changed in our favor but the individual SS deciders have not yet adhered to them. And it is my experience that no matter is wrong with you it is an automatic denial, which keeps the Social security lawyers in business because they get 25 percent. There is such a back log that it takes 18 to 24 months just to get into the appeal, not counting the 6 months it takes just to be denied.

Yeah, I applied and after 17 weeks received a letter that said claim denied becaue "you're not blind and able to walk" it goes on to say "try" not to use your left arm. So rediculous, I had to laugh...."try". yeah ok, I'll try.
