Pronator Teres Transfer Surgery

Post by admin »

Our daughter Caroline, age 6 1/2, is schedule for her 4th surgery on January 7th. They would also like to perform the Pronator Teres Transfer Surgery to give her more supination. Has anyone had that done on their child? If so how was the outcome? Thanks,
Kathy Reilly

Hi Kathy! Joey, also 6 1/2 :o), just had another capsulodisis and the pronator transfer done as well. He just had surgery on the 3rd though so results are in the future but I have heard good things about the procedure. Take care and God bless! ~~Joann

Hi Kathy - has Caroline had the bicep tendon lengthening procedure done? Justin is scheduled for it at TCH on 1/22. Any info would be greatly appreciated. We will be thinking of Caroline on the 7th - God Bless!

Joanne,
Do you feel Joey has gotten more supination with the surgery? We are not sure about it and wanted to find out more pro's. Caroline has had 3 other surgeries and also having the same one Joey had the Capsuldisia(SP?)
Thanks,
Kathy

Hi Kathy! Joey is still in the brace...so no news to report. This was his 4th surgery too. It was the most uneventful of them all. He didnt cry a tear going back to surgery or the entire recouperation time so far. The positioning of the brace is more inconvenient being straight out to the side but other than that there have been no problems. From what I understood the supination should come with lots of therapy. ~~love, Joann

My daughter is 5 and had Bicep/Brachialis lengthening this summer. The results were wonderful! She is excited about how straight her left arm is, and has much more control. She has very minimal hand function, and compensates by holding things in the crook of her arm. The surgery was only about an hour long, and we went home the next morning with a cast that goes from mid forearm to mid upper arm. It was a breeze. You should buy stock in trash bags (what we used to keep the cast dry in the tub the 2 months it was on):)
