Update On Alexyss at the Orthopedist

Post by Tracey »

The news was not to good today. It appears that Alexyss has a bone infection in her BPI arm. We are scheduled to be admitted into the hospital Wednesday morning to drain out the fluid and to put something in her to administer the antibiotic (something like an IV, but it is placed near her coller bone). We will be there a couple of days and then we get sent home and have to administer the antibiotic ourselves for a few weeks. They say they do this to little babies so they won't spit up the medicine. I just want her to be ok and the funny thing is that I am not upset about it. I will update ya'll whenever I get the chance, but will hear from the doctor tomorrow. I will let you know what he says then.

I wish Alexyss a quick recovery, and peace of mind for you during her hospital stay.

wow - so sorry to hear about this. I will keep all of you in my prayers and hope that things go well and aren't painful for your little one.

Do you know about EMLA cream? This is a numbing cream that is put on about an hour before insertion of IV or any kind of needles... It REALLY works well. Hospitals try to get out of using it because they need special permission for it and it does take an hour to work...but if you ask me - unless it's a life or death situation - the wait is worth it - why put your little one through unnecessary pain. You can have your doctor order it.

Just a thought,
let us know how she is doing,
big hugs,

Alexyss is very fortunate to have a good mom who is not upset. Your strength will get her through this.
I would also use the cream Francine talked about. It does work wonders! I hope Alexyss gets well very soon, and all goes well. I also hope you peace of mind through this ordeal.
Take Care,
Debbie
