Hi,
We used to live in Plainfield so I know right where you live. My son is 11 and is doing awesome. He had both surgeries with Dr. Nath, that man is AMAZING!!!!!! Brandon is doing everything every other child at school does, and even more. Every child is different and Brandon just seemed to excel and succeed quickly. The mod quad was so successful. at work and need to actually need to work today, so I will reply more later.
Take care,

Kristin,
In the state of Illinois, there is what is called theDivision of Specialized Care for Children. They can help pay for medical treatment and specialists related to your childs injury. They have helped us on several occasions. www.uic.edu/hsc/dscc/ or call 1-800-322-DSCC.
It is worth the call, brachial plexus injury is a disability that they help pay for. They have helped us pay for airfare, hotel stay, doctor bills(including Nath), OT visits.
Email me if you have any questions.

Kristin,
Have you considered consulting with any of the other specialists besides Nath? We considered him and also realy liked him, but ended up going with Kozin, he's also great. If insurance is an issue, I hear Nath is very expensive. Dr Kozin is at Shriners in Philly, so you only have to pay to get there, there is never a bill for any of their services. We really liked that he was a little more conservative. He did my son's first surgery almost a year ago, we are going back in 2 weeks to see if he thinks a 2nd surgery will help improve function. It's really worth getting at least 2 or 3 opinions before you decide on a surgeon. We originally consulted with 3 and then narrowed it down. It's amazing all 3 had totally different opinions on what needed to happen, so either way, you need to go with the one you feel most confortable with.
