hello again!

Post by cbe411 »

I have not been around the message boards regularly in some time. Life has gotten so back to 'normal' that I am not finding time to stroll the boards as I used to! I got a full time job, finished grad school & got married!

As things come back around, I am finding myself in need of some advice!

I just found out that I am pregnant with my first child! Yippee... how exciting and scary at the same time!

Any advice??

Good to be back!!

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Wow Courtney! You still amaze me. I watched from the shadows as you finished your school work I knew as everyone did that you would excel in the job market but married and with child...WOW!
See what you miss when you drop out?
I haven't even looked at the boards for so long and there you go. Off and running.
Congratulations on all fronts.

Thanks Scott!

Sounds funny... but I am living proof, one of many, that there IS life after this injury!!

It has been just over 8 years since my accident and I NEVER thought I would do anything! I was wrong! Once I changed my attitude... it was full speed ahead!!

Associates Degree
Bachelors Degree
Masters Degree
Marriage
A baby due in December
And now... looking to buy our first home!!

ANYTHING is possible if you want it to be! Think positive and put your mind to it! The arm only challenges me to do certain things differently, but holds me back from nothing!!

I will be certain to keep everyone posted here!

Thanks to ALL for the support over the last 8 years!!
