My daughter has BPI on the right side. Now the arm is swollen and there is a large "knot" by her elbow. We have been to the ortho and had x-rays done. Her bones were not dislocated or broken. He said he thinks she might have an infection in her bone or there could be a build up of fluid. He said if the swelling has not subsided by early next week to come in for more x-rays. He also said that if it is an infection, Alexyss will have to be admitted into the hospital for a couple of days to get antibiotics through an IV. The swelling has gone down in her hand, but is still there in her forearm, bicep area, fingers, and shoulder. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I do trust my ortho b/c he is one of the best in Dallas, TX. I am so scared though!

Problem with arm
Re: Problem with arm
I've known people with knots and bulges like that to have torn muscles, ligaments, tendons.... but I have never heard of an infection like that. Would an MRI show that type of thing more clearly?
Tracey - I hope the antibiotics do the trick and fast. Please update us ok?

Re: Problem with arm
Thanks Francine. The swelling appears to be getting worse in her bicep area along with her elbow area. I will let you know more on Monday!
