Helpful resources

Post by cdmurfee »

There are two resources that I have found VERY helpful to me in dealing with BPI that I thought I might share.

1)Alexander Technique

The Alexander Technique is basically teaching yourself to let go of latent and excess tension that we all carry within our musucles everyday. I took a summer of lessons to help me not be so tense playing trombone, but it also had a great release of tension effect of my affected arm. It mostly focuses on breathing and everyday moving, by understanding how the body moves and understanding the nasty habbits we all have that induce tension.

2) The New Psycho-Cyberntics, by Dr. Maxwell Maltz

This is a book that essentially gets you to reshape your self image through logical thought, and thereby tap into your human potential. There's a lot more to it than that, but I've found it to be of tremendous importance to my sense of self confidence and what I let get to me and what I don't. It's a little dry, but the subject matter is very interesting.

As always, I hope that might help someone.
