Many tragic things things have happened to all of us in the hospital and we have all suffered to some degree but there is always a lighter side and I was hoping we could all share some of those
So one I've got is from my last surgery. Before the surgery I was looking for a small cactus to keep as I tend to kill plants that need actual care. My mom and I had also been joking that I might wake up looking like those accident victims in comedies with their arms casted in a waving poisition with a stick to prop it against their bodies.
Sooo....I wake up from surgery to find my arm IS up and out in a "waving" position, though I have a brace not a cast. First thing my mom does is make fun of me. Thanks mom Then she wants to show me the cactus she found for me at the Home Depot. She does this by holding it directly over my face. All I could think was, please don't drop it.
Then, the next day she sits on the couch with a ledge behind her where the cactus is sitting, leans her head back and gets the cactus caught in her hair. I couldn't even get up to help her. Took her about 15min to get it out. I almost had to get the nurse.
Fortunately mom got to keep all of her hair and my cactus only has a small "naked patch" where the needles were ripped out
Humerous Stories
Re: Humerous Stories
I'm trying to find a funny story-after 20 hosp stays there has to be one!
My very first surgery was exploratory surgery and I was just 18. my friends (about 10 of them) decided to take a road trip and see me. I was in for about 5-7 days. My one friend Bruce was so nervous he got goofy. he took the rubber gloves and put it over his head and blew it up with his nose. At the same time another friend felt faint and fell and my girls friends were bouncing on my bed. I'd laugh and cry from the bouncing.............it was pretty funny. As this is going on my doctor walks in and checks on me. The glove went flying off of Bruce's head and my other friend looked at the doctor and went out again.
What would I have done without my friends????
