Future compensation for obpi

Post by admin »

Just wondering if I could get any insight on the future problems possibly awaiting my child for the injury received at birth for which he should be compensated for. ie, the rest of his life

Does anyone have any ideas on what other problems might arise for the rest of his life? ie: degenerative, muscular inbalances, pain, etc.

Thanks in advance!

I'm 36 yr.s old, other than some nerve pain(that's how I describe it)from time to time, there's really nothing that I can look back on and feel that I should've been compensated for. I'm not saying I should be compensated for the pain either.
There is nothing that he cannot learn to do, and regular use and exercise will help develope muscle and improve range of motion.
The only stand-out time was, I guess, during the most developmental years. At times, it was like my left arm had a freakin' mind of it's own.
I would only seek compensation if the OB. was just blatantly rough during delivery or your Ped. Doc did not do a thorough exam. afterward.
As with anyone in his situation, let him know he is no deferent from anyone else. Believe in him, teach him to believe in himself and he will amaze you. Just be willing to stand back and let him live.

I agree that I can do just about anything, although there are certain careers that are beyond me (doctor, police officer, military, etc). The thing to watch for is overuse of the "good" arm. I'm already starting to get carpal tunnel syndrom.

And I'm all for suing the doctors. My parents did, and got a very modest settlement that, by the time I turned 18, was enough to pay for college and law school. This was a real help since I couldn't work my way through college as a waitress!

Hi Carolyn, my name is Tiana. That is what I am trying to fight now, my lawyer says that BPI kids do get a settlement that will put them through college, etc. but not being greedy, I was looking for more because this injury was given to her by a doctor. My lawyer said that the amount of compensation given is low because they say that bpi kids can live a normal live just like someone else, not like brain damaged kids. Am I right or am I wrong.
