Pain Medication

I'm wonderin' this far down the line just how
y'all are managing things? It's been a year.
Pain, support, finance, you know those simple things
in life others take for granted all to often?
I'm sure we all did as well.
I'm wonderin' if y'all will even reply?
Very rarely does anyone update...

Oh an by the way, on my last refill some quack whom
I've never even met determined I've been taking
too much Temazepam so she prescribed a weaning
down dosage plan which SUCKS!
It's been a while and the dosage is so minimal
I've found myself not even hardly bothering taking
the med or sleeping much anymore for that matter.
Thank God I see my real team the 26th. I can't
wait to sleep for 8 or 10 hours again.

Have you thought about seeing a pain specialist? Not just a regular doctor? Someone who understands pain and won't mess about with lowering the dosage just b/c they think you are on too much?

I have a question. How long after does everyone continue to take Lyrica or percocets, or Loritabs and whatnot?

I have never really taken any nerve pain medication. The only time I've had pain medication is pretty much immediately after surgeries, I've had Percocet 10 and Loritab 10, down to 7.5 or 5. They pretty much gave me enough to go maybe 30 days and refill weaning me down so that I didn't take longer than 60 or 90 days maybe. I don't take anything now though occasionally I wish I had some.

I do ok for the most part but you know the pain spikes up now and then and it might be nice to have something. Overall they make me very lethargic but could be useful at times.

i take gabapentin,percocet 10's, and muscle relaxers 3 times a day and i take zoloft and temazepam at bedtime. also take tramadol for pain spikes.

Melanie has been very fortunate with her pain level also. She took Neurontin 300mg 2-3 times a day for about 2 years after her injury and naturally she took Percocets after surgery for a couple of days. But now, she doesn't take anything. Occasionally she will complain of some pain, especially with weather changes, but for the most part she doesn't need pain meds. We're very lucky in that respect.

Hey guys! I have had Parsonage-Turner for 2 years. I currently take 60mg of cymbalta, which helps alot, I use 2 Lidoderm patches on my shoulder and arm everyday, use my TENS unit every day and take 2-3 lortabs a day which helps take the edge off that pain. Not only is the nerve pain bad, but is the muscle wasting that is associated with not being able to use the arm in a normal manner, my neck and even my back have atrophied making activity painful. My unaffected arm is now having pain due to overuse. I still keep hearing in my head over and over my pain management dr saying"Robin, I just don't understand where all that pain is coming from". I thought, I wouldn't expect you to after only spending 10 minutes with me and I have lived with this for 2 years! I told him he needs to visit this site!!!

I take Neurotin 2 caps-3 times a day and 1 Tramadol at night for pain. Been taking this for almost 2 years now. Hard times are with the weather changes of winter. My arm and hand are both atrophied and they get stiff and feel really tight. But hey, I don't let it slow me down in my retirement.

Hi, I've lived with a brachial plexus injury for just over twenty years, during that time I've tried many types of medications, The most potent work less and less with prolonged use, with ever increasing side effects. Lyrica is , from my experience, the least side effects it diminishes the pain levels but with the down side is I become easily distracted. My working as a glass blower requires as much concentration as I can muster, so consequently it's only seldom I use it before going to sleep. Finding something that requires your all and builds your self esteem is the most effective pain management. I'm saddened to hear your pain increased after your operation. I was looking at the same surgery, not anymore.

Hi! I take 50mg of lyrica a day,..the pain is still there but as they say its tolerable.

I take 2mg dilaudid 2x day, lortab 4-8 x day(1/2 tab), trazadone to sleep at night. pretty good pain relief.
