New and need some help/info

Post by Lindsey_20 »

My name is Lindsey and i am 20 years old from columbus ohio. I have a Left OBPI, up until recently (thanks to searching online) i had little or no information about this injury and I dont know of any support groups or have anyone else i know that suffer's from this too. I was wondering if anyone could kind of point me in the right direction on who or what kind of specialist there is that could help me manage the pain. ive tried physical therapy, Orthopedic's and many others but none of the doctors i have seen had any idea about the injury and had to research it so im finding it hard to get help with managing the pain. Any information or even just someone else to talk to who is going through this too would be so wonderful im tiard of feeling so alone.

please feel free to email me if you feel you could help me. xobabylindseyxo1@yahoo.com

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Hi Lindsey
Welcome to UBPN. I'm glad you found us and now you know you are no long alone with this injury. Please feel free to ask any question you think of. There are no silly questions when it comes to obpi. We all have very similar problems as well as a deep desire to support each other. Most of us have the same story how we thought we were the only one's with a rare birth injury.

Welcome...I think you'll find a very kind and open group of people ready and willing to answer all questions.

There's specialists that I'm sure others could recommend, I've never been to one yet but I know many others that have.

Nice to meet you!
