My son is 7 and since he watched "FINDING NEMO" 30 times and finally put two and two together as I sit and cried......he calls his arm either his"lucky Fin" or his special arm. He insists that he has more muscle in his OBPI arm than in his other arm......

Re: Let's see how silly we really can be
Great topic. Makes it easier when we're not always so serious about serious things. The first movie we ever took my son to see was "Finding Nemo." We had no idea what it was about and he was under a year old and still breastfeeding so he could actually wait through a movie. Anyway, after we saw it it seemed fitting to call his right arm his "lucky fin." Makes us smile and Nemo is an awesome role model for people with BPIs.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

When I was very young I called my injured arm my bad arm. Now I just call it my left arm or my injured arm.

My whole life I have called my arm lefty(LOBPI) and my family has also. Its funny to read how many people on here call their arm by a name. I think weve all got the same kinda brain damage! just kidding..but seriously its really crazy how much we all think alike.

I always called it my "bad arm." Tho I did have a gym teacher refer to it as my "bum wing" once. I thought that was rather colorful.
If daydreaming were criminalized, I’d be a lifer.

My Mom calledit Lefy and it stayed all the way till now and i am 36. In high school they yelled it out from the crowd when i was shhoting free throws. I missed so bad they yelled back try shooting it left handed.

My gimp arm is used most often, I've also used my dead weight, my bum arm, flail wing, t-rex arm, paperweight and others. Sorry, I'm TBPI and have a weird sense of humor and talk a lot. My 3 year old niece calls it Uncle Wobby's BooBoo arm.
