TCH in November

Post by Rivers »

Hello,
just wondering if anyone has hotel suggestions for staying in Houston. we will be in Texas the week of November 25th. Any information will be appreciated. Also, is there anyone that might be there at the same time?

Thanks,
Rivers

Hello we will also be at TCH the same week. We are staying at the Crowne Plaza, our 2nd time. It is right accross the street from the hospital. Cost is 89$, this is a discounted rate. Call 713-797-1110 and let them know your there for a BP surgery. They will give you the discount.

Thanks to both of you for your reply. Francine, I did check out your website and I've found it to be very helpful!I feel like I have a handle on what to expect from this trip, it's all so overwhelming. I'm nervous about my daughters surgery, but I want to get her on the road to recovery as soon as possible.

thanks for your help,
Samantha

Samantha - it IS overwhelming which is one of the main reasons I put all that stuff on the web...people have too many things to think about when they are planning surgeries....the least I could do is get some lists together to help out. Nothing is going to really make your pre-surgery days better - pre-surgery is no doubt HELL on earth - but many of us have experienced it (and many times). The best I can say to you is something a friend said to me...

take time to eat well
take time to sleep well
and take care of yourself so that you can take care of your little one

...words of wisdom from someone who I have great respect for.

Hi Jana, Rivers will be having her first surgery. We have never been to TCH before so this will be all new to us-and very overwhelming. What surgery is your daughter having?

We stayed at the Holiday Inn when Matthew had primary and we stayed at the Marriott when he had mod quad. I'd recommend the Marriott over Holiday Inn.
Matthew had great recoveries and was back to himself in no time. I was surprised how well he fell back into his sleeping habits after surgery. For primary we drove and mod quad we flew. If you're road tripping I can pass along some tips we found helpful.
Good luck
Cindy
