Slings

Post by GMcG »

Can anyone recommend a good place to get nice custom dress slings made that are supportive and attractive, match clothing and don't interfere too much with normal clothing? I don't want anything super fancy, just maybe a couple of basic colors besides the standard Aircast black shoulder immobilizer that I wear every day, I'd like one in white and brown at least. I did see the athletic slings, but what I'm looking for is more for dress-up purposes. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've posted a couple of times about a blue and white one that I sometimes use and about my black with chrome. Looks like a shoulder holster to most at firs glance. It's cool.
Dan makes 'em and they are the coolest. Do a search GMcD, on slings and braces, and you'll get all there is and there.
Peace and laughter,

I have home-made a couple of slings for my fiance. He has one that is in flames, electric bolts (he used to be an electrician) black, kakhi and such. I would be willing to make a few in different colors for the cost of the material, shipping, and some of my time. E-mail me and I can send photos of the slings that I have made for him. Let me know if you are interested.

Broken Beauties makes slings that are nicer looking than your average hospital issued sling. You can see their products on their website: http://www.brokenbeauties.com/

It also looks like they do custom slings if you don't like the styles they have. :)

Genevieve,
I've posted a couple times about a blue and white brace. I use more or less as my Sunday type, you know clean.
I have a black one with chrome.
Dan B. makes the athletic type braces. And Dan S. is probably right. He could probably make one out of anything.

Good luck with that.

Dan and Scott are correct, we can make out of any material, if you want to pick it out, send to us, or just tell us the color, we can do it.

The style will be the same, double shoulder straps and straps in front, just look at the pictures from the link and you can see the style. All slings we have done in the past have been with black straps, but I know there are a few other colors we can make the straps in also.

Please let me know if you have any questions,

I don't mean to hi jack the thread or anything like that but i have a quick question while on topic if you don't mind.

I hardly every where a sling but i was building a barn for my grandfather the last few weeks and started getting a totally different pain then im use to, im guessing from my arm just hanging. so i put the sling on while doing the barn and it helped it a bit, i seen the specialist last thurs and told him this and he warned me to stop wearing the sling as much possible as it will cause stiffness. do you all wear a sling ALL the time or just when going out ?
every doc i see tells me something differnt and messes my head up so i don't know whats right and wrong anymore.

again sorry if this is off topic im new i dont really know how strict you guys are here, if your offened just ignore , ill make a new topic on it
thanks Craig!

I only wear when I am doing very physical athletics like running, biking, snowskiing etc. and I need my arm strapped down as secure as possible. I could see using during construction projects, but as soon as I was done each day, I would take off.

From my 22 years of experience, I would tend to agree with your specialist who wants your arm as flexible as possible.

I tried their slings and could not wear them. The buckle is large and hit in the chest. My arm would not bend at the correct angle. Therefore my arm did not fit properly in the sling.

You can give it a try. It might work for you. It just didn't work for me.
