Game Systems for one handed players
My 14 year daughter is hemiplegic from a hemispherectomy and herniated brain stem in 2006. She can manipulate a computer mouse and loves to play computer games. We are looking for a nintendo ds or some sort of personal gaming system that she could do one handed. She is also mentally retarded, so the games have to be for children around 10 years old. Does anyone have any ideas?
Re: Game Systems for one handed players
I loved my Gameboy Color when I was about 10, and it's easy to play one-handed. The only problem is that I don't know if Nintendo still makes games for it or not, but I do know you can find old games and gameboys on eBay for good deals.

Leapster 2 and DIDG (sp) - leapster products are easy to handle one handed, are educational. They may be a little young- but some games say up to 12.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Look at the site listed below. This guy (Ryan Culy) modified the Wii controllers into a one-handed controller for his buddy.

To see it click on Projects, then click on Wii Controller under Special Projects.
He walks through a picture demo on how he modified it.

Wii Bowling and Baseball. Included in Wii Sports.
Those are the only two I did.
Both one-handed and both very easy.
I actually believe you could get a workout having fun.
Lots of fun.
