how about a musical instrument she can start puttering around with?
Re: Birthday HELP (non bpi)
We got Jojo a bunch of arts and crafts supplies, a lap desk w/ pockets and he loved it. stickers, glue, crayons- all things he had, but I think gifting it all together made the difference. also - cd's Kids Bop, and Disney Jams. Todays music redone for and by kids.
good luck- I am having trouble thinking of gifts for my 8 soon to be 9 year old. he doesn't want toys and I am NOT only giving him videogames. He loves to draw and listen to music though.

Thank you everyone! Great ideas. Books are a HUGE part of my list, she's getting several sets. The hard thing is that her birthday is just one week after Christmas which makes innovative ideas hard. She loves arts and crafts and books, but she's getting a ton of that stuff for Christmas. Santa has to look good ya know!!..on top of that she's getting a jumpy house. I just can't seem to think of anything that even comes close for birthday.

Also, any type of learning activity books/set (magnetic boards with letters/numbers) or felt boards are a hit with the 4-5 yr olds

yes, it's safe.. doesn't get everywhere.. sticks to itself and you can shape it/take off/add on clumps (like it's not little bits)

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Is a Wii out of the question? Great for everything! & can play with others too, or alone. Wi is different from regular Video games as it is very physical..& F-U-N!
