gleno-humeral dysplasia diagnosis

Post by Tracey032001 »

My daughter had her MRI results back on Friday and it showed gleno-humeral dysplasia. they said a muscle tendon transfer would be the first choice to help correct it. Next would be doing a later operation where it involves the bone itself. Her ball and socket are now at 30 degrees and the ball has turned into an oblong shape instead of round. Has anyone had this surgery done? My daughter hasn't had any surgeries thus far. She is almost 5. Thanks, Tracey

hi tracey.....

I believe that what you are talking about is what I've been trying to explain about children not "grinding out a joint" for themselves because they didn't have the range to get that full motion in there that causes the humeral head to be more rounded and the socket more pronounced. Is 30 degrees considered subluxated or dislocated ? and maybe the bone surgery they are talking about is an osteotomy?

am curious to know more....
