I am curious to see how many BPI children have a hearing loss on the same side.
Does anyone know why this occurs? Or have any information on it?

I don't know the answer but I'm interested in any information that you may find. I may have my daughter tested since at birth she failed the test on her injured side and passed on the retest.

I don't know about a hearing loss, but I have suspected some hearing/ear involvement with bpi since my daughter was born 2 years ago. She had terrible ear infections for her first year, vestibular problems and was language delayed. The ear infections have cleared up (finally), her balance is mostly normal (though she can't catch herself from falling on her left-bpi side), and her language is basically normal for a 2 year old. I spoke to the docs in texas and they agree that there is anecdotal evidence, but they haven't found the scientific answer yet. Good luck

I would be interested to know anything also. My daughter has Erb's Palsy on the left side and had several ear infections for the first 9 months of her life until she got tubes. I feel that all the infections and loss of hearing at that time has slowed her speech some. She talks a lot, but is very difficult to understand. Please inform me if you learn anything.
