picking at fingers

My daughter has robpi and has some lose of sensation in her right thumb and fingers. She sucks her left thumb and picks her right thumb at the same time, but she will pick it raw because she can not feel it until it is to late. We have tried every thing and can't stop her. Does any one have any suggestions or has any one had this problem? It is killing me to see my child doing harm to her self. Isn't it enough that she has Erb's Palsy and will there always be something else that will creep up from this injury???

I don't know how old your daughter is, but I remember when I was very little (I'm 25 now....ROBPI) my mom had put a glove on my hand so that I wouldn't hurt it. I don't know why I didn't just take it off!!! I remember seeing pictures of me w/ it on.
