Dustin just called and told me he bent his arm up from fully extended in the standing postition. Until today the best he could do was from 90 degrees up to shoulder. He's been working it in his own way without formal therapy for over a year now. Yesterday he said he noticed feeling under his arm that he hasn't had since the accident, and that he could use control while letting the arm fully down. Previously he lost control and it just fell after the 90 degree mark. This is so awesome!!! Hoping for a functioning arm some day!! Dustin's accident was 2yrs 11 mo's ago.

Gracilis muscle transfer for new bicep is working somewhat, still have a way to go-no hand-to-mouth motion yet!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.
