Hi Fran,
We definitely paid over $79 a night at the Marriot last April. I'm not sure but I think it was something like $105 and that was with the medical discount. What happened with the new Best Western? I thought they were offering $59 a night? Good Luck.

Well the Best Western is out of the question for us because we really wanted to use the indoor pool the day before surgery and their pool is not yet open. Want Maia to have a bit of fun the day before her surgery. Best Western DOES have a $59 medical rate - but there are also limitations to their services. They also told me that we would get a microwave and refrigerator in our room for free and then we found out that only suites have that availability. So between that and not having the pool opened yet, we figured we'd keep on trying elsewhere.
So here's the scoop on the Mariott.
Medical rate: $119
Entertainment Card rate: $69
AAA rate: $79
Government rate (federal and state): $73
Come & Play rate: $79
Free shuttle to places in the area... free microwave and refrigerator in your room...
But of course each rate has to have availability for the dates you need...so play it safe and call early.

Fran did you get the entertainment rate- I could mail you my card I just realized it's still good for December and I'm not using it. Some things ran out in November but not hotels. Let me know quick! Carole

Hi Francine
Sorry for the late reply but we has been looking for a good therapist for Jocey the last one she had was almost three months trying to do the Jocey's splint. Well I went back to the therapist she had before. I switch for be near home and that was the big mistake I did. Only because I do not like to drive in this big city.
Well about the hotels I will email you to give you our phone numbers. You could stay at our home. We are 25 minutes from the medical center. We live west Houston The only problem is when the transit is high could take up to 45 minutes. That happen at any point of this big city.
I will be at the hospital December 10 Jocey have appointment at 10:00 am. She will have a new EMG done by Dr. Nelson. Her surgery will be in January. They will remove one muscle from her leg. Is one of the four muscle you have on each leg and the function of this group of muscle is close the legs together. That means she will still with 3 other muscle will be strong enough to make this job. Dr. Klebuc said with this surgery she will be able to grab and hold a cup of water, put the key and start a car with the help of the other hand. That will be cool for us! Peace of mind when she grew up. The best of her is very independent girl. We never tough she will be able to do this. We are very happy with him we was talking until 9:00 pm the day we went to the hospital to meet him. He is a very human person and very positive. Since he started to perform this kind of surgery all the patients had improvement with it.
