e-stim coverage United HC Options PPO

Post by Karen »

I apologize because I know this has been asked before but has anyone gotten United to cover the estim unit? There policy is pretty clear that it is not a covered expense when used for muscle atrophy but it is covered when used for pain management of peripheral nerves. I am wondering if anyone has any pointers on how I may get around this. I have already purchased the machine because I didn't want to wait any longer. I hope that doesn't hurt any chance I may have in any reimbursement. Thanks.

Here's what Blue Cross say about it, because there have not been independent randomised trials and users have other therapy too, so it's not clear whether improvements are because of the TES or the other therapies-so no real proof it works! http://medpolicy.bluecrossca.com/polici ... liosis.htm Has anyone had insurance approval for the unit?
