How do you avoid getting wiped out because of a spambot? I created my account twice now so I am not sure what to do.
I have argued with L&I, argued with the doctors, and pleaded with everyone; still no diagnosis.
The doctor was waiting on L&I who was waiting on the doctor and the doctor wont refer me to the neurologist without L&I. So, I called neurologist and they said they would take my private insurance & transfer it to L&I when claim is open so now it is back in the doctor's lap. Although, I am thinking of transferring doctors if I can.
Thanks to all for your help. I will type more later if my arm/hand cooperates

Temporary or Permanent??
Re: Temporary or Permanent??
Sorry...I have another question. My car is a 5-speed. I haven't driven it since the accident. I am thinking of trading for an automatic. Do you think this is wise?
BTW: if I am wiped out again, my name is Dyanne and my email address is moleculargal@yahoo.com

Re: Temporary or Permanent??
Hi Dy,
I bought a manual car 3 months before my accident. I traded cars with my parents for their automatic. One year later I had enough recovery to be able to shift again and I traded back.
Cheers,
Joel

Re: Temporary or Permanent??
Hi all and Dy-
I also went to an automatic. At the time my left leg was also bothering me, so between the leg and the right arm, shifting was getting to be a drag. I could probably shift now, but a car is a major expense. If I have another attack, I could lose what I have gained back. Besides, my automatic is a Prius, so I have extra incentive to keep it as long as gas price is like it is.

Re: Temporary or Permanent??
Oh, well then I can definitely see your point! It'd be hard to trade that 47 mpg! Plus, the Prius is a nice car. My dilemma is that my car is a Jetta TDI; great mileage (about 45-48 mpg average) and I am trading to a Passat which gets only 32. But, it is for the best I think. I even tried driving my Jetta the other day just to see if I could and it was obvious that I could not do it safely
Is your left leg also a part of your condition? That would make it very hard to drive a stick shift because you are affected on both sides you need the most to drive one

I hope you have better neurologists than I have seen here. The first one had his test equipment held together by duct tape. And while he was doing the EMG test, with needles inserted in fairly sensitive parts of my hand, the thing fell over pulling the nedles out, and the tape came undone. The stand went one way, the machine the other. Not real professional. The second test I had with a different neurologist was much more professionally done, but this guy decided I had muscular dystrophy even though he had to make up a few symptoms to get other doctors to accept it. That was a bit of a monkey wrench in my history. . . The third one I saw admitted to me in the first couple of minutes of the exam, that he had not ever treated a person with my problem, and that if he had; he usually referred them to a University hospital. . . So, I am not sure what I think of neurologists.

Dy-
I totally missed this post by you.
Yes- I think BPI or not, I am hooked on the Prius.
As far as the BPN impact to my legs, if it was related, it would mean that the same thing that is causing my BPN in my arm would also be causing impact to my legs which would also open it up to the rest of my spine. Odds would be against it from all I have seen. But then again, no one really knows what is causing my condition yet.
A few years back, I had a "miss-step" off of a deck. I did not see the step, and my full weight sort of hit my left leg in an awkward manner. I managed to stay upright. I did not even spill any wine from the two glasses I was bringing out to two people in the hot tub at the time. . . My left leg has never been the same since that though. But, I think it is possible that if I had a virus that attacked one part of my nerves along the spine, they could attack the entire spine. I would not look forward to convincing doctors of that though.
I have not seen you post recently. I hope you are doing OK in your recovery.
