A Little Help From My Friends?

Post by swhite1 »

Okay, I have to ask again.
What are compression whatevers and are ace wraps sufficiant?
I have to stop this burning now. It's been a week
and I have been very good about not taking any extra meds.
I know in the grand scheme this may seem trivial but I gotta tell ya folks it ain't. Not for this long.

Nevermind...
Scott

Scott, where is the burning? And do you see an OT/PT at all?

Maybe they can do some ultrasound? That really helped calm the burning in my "good" arm. Also I would ask for a compression glove that they might use for edema (swelling) that should help too.
Best wishes,
Amy

Scott,
I wear a compression sleeve and glove to bed every night. Actually the sleeve is quite comfortable. There are times when my arm is tired that I wear the sleeve. It helps greatly with the swelling. I wear it from just below the wrist up to my arm pit. When it goes from being comfortable to too tight. I take it off. Several hours go by before that happens.

I get mine from my therapist. I alway have them give me two. That way one can be in the wash.

Ohhh! I could never wear something like that. No,No,No. I can not wear rings, rubberbands or turtle necks either.
When I sling 4 or 5 grocery bags on the 'good arm' and get in the house, if one of the bags stick I go through the roof trying to loosen it. I just can not tolerate restriction like that.
When I was married I would try and wear my wedding band on holidays or special occasions. After awhile, if I noticed that I had it on I would have a fit trying to get it off and my finger would swell. The more I tried to get it off the worse it got...or I got. Maybe it's some sort of fobia. Or is it Phobia or is it just a simple behavioral disorder. Either way I kind of figured that was what a compression thing was anyway.
Nope. For me for the rest of my days it's loosey, loosley,
Lucy. I don't know any loosey Lucy.
Nevermind.
Thank you for your responses.
Janelle, I thought I had an appointment today with OT/PT
when come to find out it was just another CAT scan of my chest.
They seem to be concerned about a little dark gray area that isn't between my ears.
Go figure.
Peace out, solders home and go stem cell research...
