My ten year old son.

Post by AngieB »

Hello, my name is Angie and my son (Josh) was born in 1996 and diagnosed with Erb's Palsy. The doctor's said because of his position in utero (my womb) cause the damage. He started going to OT at two months and went until he was about 2 years old. We went to the Texas Children's Hospital and the doctor there said that he would out grow his condition. Seven years later and he wasn't any better, so we went back to his pediatrician and back to OT. There are no specialists in my city and his orthopedic surgeon suggested we go to a bigger city for a second opinion. We went, but I'm not feeling good about this doctor. I found two specialist in Houston from UBPN and I was wondering if anyone has been there and who do they recommend? Berzin or Nath? Please help me or is it too late for my son?

Angie,

I saw Dr. Nath about 5 years ago and thought he was a wonderful and knowledgeable man and Dr. I think he has attended a UBPN Camp and many people on these boards admire and respect him. I cannot believe someone at TCH told you your son would "outgrow" a BPI ??

I don't think it's ever toooo late to seek help and advice. Good Luck

Angie,

I think you should post on the General Board as well. I just tried to help you by cutting & pasting your message over there, but I don't think it worked?

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Angie,
It was Dr Nath who told me the straight "poop" about my LOBPI injuries when I was 66. I think it's great that he travels around giving free consults. I never would have been able to afford going to Houston to see him...or go to Mayo either. I don't have good medical coverage as a retired senior..:(
