I have a very different opinion. I don't think it is rude at all to contact Mr. Sheen. I am sorry that you would feel mortified if you were approached due to a condition you had. Just because he is famous doesn't make him any less human. He seems to be a compassionate man with a big heart, who may, if given the chance, actually have a true interest in these injuries and how they impact innocent babies and children for the rest of their lives. There are many famous people who want to utilize their fame in a positive way and who want to give back to society. I think that we must reach out and unite to fight this huge battle with BPI's. Sorry you seemed to feel so offended. I think it is a great idea and that we need people who care on our side, especially well known people. Look at what Michael J. Fox has done for Parkinson's. It has just been incredible. You never know, someone might surprise you with their compassion. And in the very least, perhaps he may learn more about his injury and how many others are also affected.

I am sure he wouldn't mind being contacted, but then again he might, and if he was it would not be due to a lack of compassion on his part, it might just be how he feels about his injury. The last post about him was in May, has he replied to Nancy yet? If he hasn't or doesn't I hope people here don't think of him as uncompassionate. Some parents do not like people asking about their childrens arms, some children will not post here or read the postings-everone deals with the issue of disability differently. Martin Sheen is a good person, but he might not contact UBPN. Then again he might!

No I haven't had a reply.
Believe me, if I do, you all will be the first to know!

so I read on the board about Martin Sheen... and then I am watching Apocolypse Now-Redux on satellite the other night...and guess what---HE LOOKS LIKE A BPI. I couldn't believe it, he holds his arm bent, he scapula wings...he is shirtless for most of the movie, so it is easy to see. I was amazed!!
