this is the link for the little video I made of him using his left arm. Keep in mind that he had an avulsion of C6, C7, C8 and T1, so his recovery is absolutely awesome!!! He has therapy once a week and wears a McKenzie splint overnight (because he likes to chew on it). He had a nerve transfer surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in November o7!

This video made me cry! It's awesome. My son had somewhat similar injuries and it's great to see that progress can be made!!!!! Actually, my son uses him arm similar to the way Malik uses his!!

Does Malik have any bicep function...I mean actually bending the elbow? We don't have that and I wonder when that comes??

AWWWWWWwwwwwwwwww tyvm, Malik was 5 1/2 months old at his nerve transfer, and no he does not have any bicep, no elbow bending, unless he is laying on his back and gravity is helping. I wonder when that comes too!

thanks so much for the incredible video!

It's so important for people to know - and BELIEVE - that primary surgery CAN provide some hand function. I pray that he continues to improve.

And... what a cutie!

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Hi Moms

I hope this finds u all here in the best state of health and spirit.

I have seen video of malik before surgery, he is so cute and naturally very strong baby. Myson seem to want to turn on his sides and i was worried it will be impossible, am so glad to see malik could and hope mine will be able too Godwilling.

How do children with BPI crowl(i dunno if the spelling is right)?

About the elbow, my sons arm is completely straight? i have noticed maliks and others is not srtaight but bend little bit at the elbow? Do this bending position come in later stages of BPI or?

Thanks.

Love, P.
