Help with Footwear

Post by compwiznot »

My son had an ATV accident almost two years ago. He has completely lost the use of his left arm, wrist and hand. He had muscle transfers done in Sept. but has not had any function return at all. My question regards finding footwear that he can wear for work. He works in steel construction and needs workboots with zippers that he can do up himself. Also he still snowmobiles but has not been able to find gear that he can do up himself. Does anyone know where we might find these things?

Hi there. Im not sure if this is applicable in your sons situation, as they might not be tight enough after, but after doing a little research on the net, i taught myself to tie both my shoes with one hand. holding down one lace with one foot while you tie the other is the best way i have found. Im a righty too..

There are also elastic laces available at most running stores. My husband helps me put them on, locks the closure, and I can slip them on & off without undoing them after that.

Hopefully they're strong enough for work boots :)
