Doctor in New York??

I am trying to get a triangle tilt surgery approved with my insurance having the surgery performed by Dr. Nath. I have BCBS-NC and since he's not a participating provider I have been denied. In the last denial letter they mentioned a Dr. David M. Wallach, in New York that "could" provide services. Has anyone heard of this doctor??????

I live on Long Island, where the State University at Stony Brook is located, and don't know this guy. I know of a neuro there and a phys med doc at St. Charles Rehab...

Any of my Long Island friends know of him? I might be too far west.

I live not far from Stony Brook and used a neuorolist throught them for Olivia when she was an infant...I was never refered to that doctor (I was told there weren't any BPI specialists on Long Island and was referred to the city). I also saw another doctor at St. Charles on Long Island, who I believe Claudia was talking about. She told me to head to Shriners or Boston Children's Hospital.
Keep fighting!!!
Also, if insurance is an issue, you may want to consider Shriners, since they are completely free. I don't believe Dr. Kozin does the Triangle Tilt, but he may be able to offer other alternatives.

Thanks for all of your input. I live in NC and as stated earlier have BCBS. In the last denial letter I received it referenced Dr. Wallach, stating he could and can perform the surgery on my daughter. I called the contact number and ending up faxing them information on Georgia and the type of surgery. I have talked with that office several times to Renee who has been VERY helpful. She told me that after reviewing the information, Dr. Wallach can't perform the surgery. I felt like I have jumped over one hurdle. BCBS called Dr. Wallach on Georgia's behalf and they were told that the surgeon we are requesting is more qualified in the Brachial Plexus field and he Dr. Wallach wouldn't feel comfortable performing the surgery. I am so close to getting the surgery approved but I have to send in another appeal letter and the Dr. in NY is going to write me a letter which is wonderful. This process has been very frustrating because when you pay for insurance you just assume you shouldn't have to jump through all these unnecessary hurdles. My 2nd level appeal letter should go to BCBS by the end of the week and hopefully after this letter we will get some good news.
After our last trip to Texas for the muscle release I said I would never go back b/c the trip was very unorganized by the previous surgeon's office.
It looks like I will be eating my words and returning to see Dr. Nath. Hopefully this trip will be better.

Harper saw Dr. Wallach up until she was 4 months old. Based on her recovery (or lack thereof) at the time he suggested we look into surgery but he doesn't do the types of surgeries associated with BPI. We began looking for a different Dr. and ended up at Shriner's w/ Dr. Kozin.
I wish you the best of luck. I know how frustrating this whole process can be.
