pain/night time/WHEN DOES IT STOP :o(

Post by Mary Beth »

okay,

The Pain has taken over my nights!!
I'm going nuts, no sleep. This injury really can take over your life. I'm tired. I did get some sleeping meds from doc. pain med and other stuff. but it seems to strike at night.(pain)

I feel depressed and sick of it, I want my life back, I want to go back to work, the pain to stop, my arm to work
and all of my life to go back to normal.

I think I need to vent, and maybe feel sorry for myself?
I know I'm seeing recovery, range is getting better, but this stinks! I see friends the first thing they ask, so any more movement? family any more movement? OOO man if I could move, I'd yell it from the roof and swing from the tree!

Okay, thanks I'm done, just needed to vent a bit, maybe these sleepless nights are finally catching up with me...

Mary Beth,
Has your doc tried giving you low-dose tryciclic antidepressants? Like Elavil for example. It works on nerve pain, along with Neurontin or Lyrica. It's used at night as it can cause drowsiness (which is a good thing..).

Well, went back to neurosurgeon this week.

He is happy with my progress! we talked about the pain but because I'm already on 3600mg of Nuerontin a day he felt that he really did not want to play with it. I'm feeling a bit better he has given me some stuff to help me sleep and it sometimes helps.

The deltoids are still not working but he has decided he is seeing enough progress surgery won't happen right now yeah! he wants to see me back in two months! that is so good because I've been traveling down to Rochester NY 5 hours from home every two weeks.

I'm not as depressed with it all, thank god. thank you for all your suggestions.

Mary Beth,

I'm glad to hear your neurosurgeon is happy with your progress and that you don't have to go back for two months...yay!

My deltoid, like yours, is still not working. I had to call my doctor this week b/c I am having increased pain and decreased movement. He told me to stop all PT and rest. I have to call him back on Monday and let him know how I'm feeling, which is still really crappy.

I'm glad for you, though, and I hope things start turning around for me, too!
