- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.

Re: Tired
Hey Cheri,
I totally understand you but I promise it gets easier as the years go by and your child grows. My daughter is 13 now and has a severe brachial plexus injury on her right side. You have to learn to take breaks and give your kid a break from all the constant bother to her. I decided when my daughter had turned 9 that I will be the one to give her therapy and take care of her she still has her Dr. visits and she is going for her 12 procedure this year but we have sat down and discussed together many of times the pros and cons of things. I moved my daughter to Greece so that she would be near the sea so she can swim all the time. I would like you to know that my daughter does therapy to herself and swims everyday. She is on the JV swimteam of her school and travels all over Europe for her cometitions she has also been requested to be a part of the greek paraolympic team. So just keep a little faith it does get much easier. I wish you the best and send you my strenghth
Sincerely,
Debbie in Athens Greece
