MB15... Good luck tomorrow!

Post by motormonk »

Hey, MB15... You were to receive your CT and EMG tomorrow.

I wish you the best of luck! Fire all your action potentials in their face!

(I love the way 'action potential' sounds; so cutting edge, so technical, yet elegant, sophisticated... hahaha)

motormonk,

Thanks so much for your well wishes. My first EMG was three weeks after my surgery and it was horribly painful, I think due to the fact that I was still having post-op pain. I hope tomorrow's isn't that bad. I'm very nervous...

I'll post when I get home.

Thanks again,
MB

I had the EMG yesterday and I guess I wasn't surprised by the results. All nerves/muscles are reinnervating except for my deltoid and upper back muscles.

I was a bit surprised, however, by the abruptness of the exam. When I had my initial EMG last August, it took almost two hours. The doctor checked my relexes, examined my arm, shoulder and back and then proceeded to the needle part...sticking me approx. 15-20 times. The doctor yesterday, although very nice, didn't check my reflexes, examine me and only stuck me about 5 times before coming to her conclusion???

I see my orhto and nerve docs a week from today so I guess we'll see what they say, but the two EMG's were so very different...I don't feel like I had much of a chance yesterday.

When I had my first EMG it was 2 and half hours long too.

But this one I'm going to have on the 6th of feb. they told me should only be 20 min.

How long post op was it when you had your first one?
It was 9 days for me and it was the worst thing I ever had. The specialist I just saw told me it was useless and I should have never have had it that soon post op.

Was this one painful? I'm just wondering.

Mary Beth,

My first EMG was three weeks post-op and it was excruciating...I would have rather given birth!!! But the one yesterday wasn't nearly as bad, so I hope it's the same for you.
