Thank you...our trip to Mayo
Thank you...our trip to Mayo
I just wanted to write a quick thank you to all of you that encouraged us to make the trip to Mayo. We just got back yesterday and "WOW"!! It was just amazing to meet with people who know so much about the injury and are confident in their assessment of his condition and have a clear plan of action for treatment. I can't say enough about that whole team. And of course the entire facility just blew us away. We were overjoyed to learn that the first head of DH's deltoid is now firing, as is his superspinidis (I think that's right) both of which were inactive at his last EMG two months ago. The team feels he will continue to heal on his own, and we will go back in 2 months to chart his progress and possibly tranfer a nerve from tricep to his axillery nerve if his deltoid has not continued to progress. But they don't think this will be necessary. Of course they said not to expect "normal" but to most definitely expect continued improvement and probably function to do day to day things with that arm. We feel so blessed and just a huge weight off our shoulders to feel confident in the medical care he's gotten. I'm not sure we would have taken the plunge if it weren't for the glowing recommendations and encouragement from members here, so "Thank you, thank you, thank you!!"
Re: Thank you...our trip to Mayo
I'm so glad you made the trip. It sounds like you have such a peace of mind now. At least having information and a tentative plan can make such a difference. I think it's the not knowing that is hardest. Best of luck for a good recovery. And yes we think the "team" at the Mayo is wonderful.
